Only you yourself choose the colors of your life — the theme of a new large cycle of works by artist Valentina Zasutska. In her project, the artist puts the problem of human self-consciousness at the center of her work, considering it as a universal experience for both the individual and society. On Valentina Zasutskaya’s canvases, all people are emphasized differently. But internally they are all the same — the heroes of Zasutskaya’s works are in an inner conflict between their ideas of goodness, ethics, and well-being and between what they face in their lives. What is more real — our inner world and expectations, or what we encounter in objective reality? The fantastic, unreal world of the Burning Man festival in Black Rock Desert, USA, in which Valentina took part in 2017, became a window into a different reality, turning over the usual ideas of what relationships between people can be.
